Newsletters (possibility of earning 50 points total)

• Maximum of 1 monthly newsletter, to be graded by the District Editor
• Newsletter due on the 5^th of every month
• 50 points per newsletter as long as it meets the following requirements (partial credit may be earned):
  • Quality content
  • Adherence to graphic standards
  • Promotion of Key Club/Major Emphasis Program
  • DCON Advertising
  • Club Officer/LTG/District Staff Contact Information

Articles (possibility of earning 100 points total)

• New maximum of 20 articles (100 points total), to be graded by the District Editor; additional 10 points will be earned if it’s published in the Tex-O-Key
• Articles due on the 5^th of every month
• 5 points per article as long as it meets the following requirements (partial credit may be earned):
  • Descriptively highlights the event
  • JPG pictures included as part of the file
  • 400+ words
  • Includes title/school/name
  • All of the school’s articles are attached to one e-mail
  • Microsoft Word format

Article Themes

• Article themes are beginning in May as April was used as an interim for new Lieutenant Governors and club officers to accustom themselves to their new positions
• Monthly article assignments will be posted to www.tokeyclub.com on or before the 15^th of every month, giving each club about 20 days to submit their articles
• Clubs should submit monthly articles as per the guidelines above
• LTGs from an odd-numbered division (i.e. 1N, 11, 17) should submit responses to questions 1 and 3; those from an even-numbered division (i.e. 2C, 30, 38) should submit responses to questions 2 and 4
  

New Bulletins (possibility of earning 50 points total)

• 5 points for each option, including: 
  • Letters to the Editor
    • Attach a letter including any questions, comments, or concerns
    • Subject line should be: “Letter to the Editor”
    • Your article/my answer may be published in the Tex-O-Key
  • Monthly Report Opportunities
    • Questions will be included in the Tex-O-Key
    • If you e-mail editor@tokeyclub.com with a quality answer, you’ll earn 5 points
    • Subject line should be: “Monthly Report Opportunity”
  • Top 5 Service Projects of the Month
    • Based on monthly reports, we’ll choose the top 5 service projects of the month
    • Allows us to share ideas for service projects
    • Lends recognition to clubs for their activities
    • Each of the clubs on the list will earn points
  • In addition to the current options
• Each of the options must be tagged as a bulletin on the monthly report (under “Club Bulletins”). Proof is required to receive points (may be e-mailed to the District Secretary at secretary@tokeyclub.com).

The official convention will last from July 3-7 in Washington DC!  All ICON attendees will be staying at the Washington Hilton.

The Texas-Oklahoma District has a ICON tour planned that begin after ICON and last from July 7th-9th.  The details for this tour can be found on the official ICON Brochure 2013.  Some highlights from this tour include visiting Smithsonian and major landmarks with your fellow Texas-Oklahoma District Key Clubbers.  This tour gives you the opportunity to build deep and meaningful relationships with your Texas-Oklahoma District Officers and Key Clubbers.  If you are interested in attending, please fill out and submit the ICON Registration Form 2013 by April 22nd to District Administrator, Walt Roetter.  You will need to turn in a deposit at this time.

Applications are now being accepted by Governor Luke Broussard to fill the position of Convention Liaison. Download the application by clicking HERE. The submission deadline is April 27, 2013. For any questions pertaining to this position, contact Governor Luke at Governor@tokeyclub.com.

The DCON online registration portal is now closed. This is to allow convention planners time to prepare materials, badges, etc. for our expected guests.

If your club has yet to register, or you need to add another attendee, you will need to do so ON-SITE at convention check-in. Convention check-in opens at 3:00 PM, Thursday, April 4th. Remember, all attendees added at this point will be charged the full rate of $140.00 per person. Please bring any remaining fees with you to convention check-in.
