Key Clean-Up |

In the past, the T-O District has chosen a District Project that has to do with fundraising and helping a service organization. We realize that many of the district projects, such as the Governor’s Project and the Season’s of Service, require our Key Clubs to raise money. This year we wanted to do a project that had nothing to do with money or fundraising. We chose a more hands-on project for our District Project this year: Key Clean-Up. Key Clean-Up is any project that you can do to help your community. You can help build a park, fix a fence, or just clean up along the road. | ||

Key Clean-Up is any project that you can do to help your community. You can help build a park, fix a fence, or just clean up along the road. Each club must have two hours of service for every member and a detailed report of everything done with this project. You need to keep all sign-in sheets and have the club president and faculty advisor sign them. You need at least two forms of publicity, such as a newspaper article or a school announcement signed by your principal, etc. You also need to have a collage of pictures articles, anything that describes what you did with this project. All of these must be accomplished to earn a patch for the District Project. Good Luck! Go Clean! |

Project Update - November 22, 2007 |
Hello Key Clubbers! I hope you have been working on the District Project, Key Clean-Up. I would love to hear what all you have been doing! Remember this is open to each club. There is not a specific project that you have to work on. You can do anything from building a park, to fixing a fence, to just picking up trash along the street. Once again, the requirements for the District Project Patch are two hours per number of members in your club. I come from a small club, but I know that it is nearly impossible to get every member to participate in a project, so the District Project Committee took that into consideration. Every member does not have to work on the project, but you have to have at least two hours for every member, (example, 50 members x 2 hours = 100 hours for your club). You need to keep your sign-in sheets. You must send in proof for your projects, so I need your sign-in sheets signed by your club president and faculty advisor. You also need two forms of publications (a newspaper article, a flier, an announcement for your school signed by your principal). You need to write a small essay of 200 words explaining how you helped “beautify” your community. There is a Power Point and the completion form on the Resource CD that each club should have received, but it should be on the website soon. The completion form must be sent in by March 15, 2008. Don’t be late. I made it a requirement in the first article to have a before and after picture in order to receive your patch. However, we changed that at K-Family Board Meeting. I cannot make that a requirement, because some clubs may not have access to a camera. So instead, we are asking those of you who do have cameras to take lots of pictures, and make a collage for Convention. We want to have A Wall of Service at Convention, and we want to see how far we can make this wall go. We will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes. Remember our goal for the T-O District is for 30 clubs to complete this project. So if you have not started, please begin. This is an easy project, and every community can use some type of help! Thanks for working on the District Project, Key Clean-Up!

Project Update - February 16, 2008 |

Texas-Oklahoma District, I am the District Project Chairperson. I have some information that has changed about Key Clean-Up. We have extended the deadline on the Completion Form to March 15, 2008. I know that since it is winter, it is hard to get outside and clean up. Also, if you live in Oklahoma you had the ice storm mess up all sorts of plans. I hope this deadline helps you out. This is the same day that the Governor's Project Completion Form is due, just if you want to make a mental note. Remember, if you want to receive the patch, you must have a total of 2 hours of service per member, 2 forms of publication, all of you sign-in sheets, signed by your President and Faculty Advisor, and a small essay (150-250 words). Pictures are optional, but if I receive enough, I am going to make a slide show for the down time parts of Convention. I would love to see what all was done to "beauify" our District. We are going to set up a Wall of Service for District Project. This is not a part of contests and awards, but we will be giving out ribbons for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. There is not too many requirements for this contest. You have to have the normal size poster board that is available at Wal-Mart. On the Poster Board, put something about the District Project, Key Clean Up, and 2007-2008. We want lots of pictures, and a description of how you "beautified" your community. You can even decorate you essay and use that! Also, you have to put your school name and Division on the back for grading purposes! Our goal is to have 30 clubs participate in this project. I think we can get more. I hope our Wall of Service goes all around our Convention area!!! Thanks for all your hard work! If you have any questions, please email me at jcbutterfly@yahoo.com.
